Loudspeaker measurement: Thiele Small parameters

Se utskriftsvennlig utgave
Beskrivelse
In loudspeaker design and production control, it is desired to extract small scale parameters (named Thiele Small parameters) from the impedance curves. One or more methods for extracting small scale parameters are to be implemented in our measurement software and tested against other measurement systems. The traditional method is to perform two measurements, one of which extra mass is attached to the loudspeaker cone. This traditional method is to be implemented, Matlab code is available.

Methods that are simpler for the user than the added mass method should be investigated. The goal is to find, test and implement a method that is so fast that it can be used in production line loudspeaker testing. Adding extra mass can be avoided if the velocity of the loudspeaker is measured. It should be investigated if a simple laser-based system for this or if it is sufficient to measure the particle velocity very near the loudspeaker. The particle velocity can be measured using a two-microphone probe.

This work could be done in collaboration with one or more loudspeaker companies that already use our measurement system so some traveling may be required.
