Namdalshagen in Namsos is one of about 50 business gardens in Norway. The business gardens, the companies and their employees represent a unique and countrywide network of small and medium sized enterprises. 40 such knowledge based companies are gathered together in Namdalshagen (founded 2005) – following the model established by SIVA (The Industrial Development Corporation of Norway).
The main aim is to contribute to local and regional business development. This is done physically by means of co-location in a larger environment, in which the various companies can develop and exchange competence, as well as exploiting the complete network resources of the business garden. The different companies can make good use of a number of joint functions.
At the same time, Namdalshagen is an arena that can provide the fertile soil for new growth throughout Namdalen - and also the driving force to establish, stimulate and develop business links and partnerships at international level. Several of the companies in Namdsalshagen have already established relationships in the Nordic region and in the rest of Europe - both in a commercial context and also as research and development partners.
Namdalshagen contributes to this process in various ways. The business garden has its own commercial consultancy service. It is also the location of a regional development office and investment fund, with substantial national participation. Namdalshagen Incubator focuses on a number of national programmes for company start ups and development, particularly those emphasising young entrepreneurs and women.
Namdalshagen is also planning an incubator scheme aimed particularly at immigrants.
A comprehensive trainee scheme, establish in collaboration with Nord Trøndelag University College, offers local companies the chance to take on temporary employees who can contribute to their competence mix.
Namdalshagen’s activities are continuously evaluated to ensure that relevant support is always being offered to this network of knowledge based and innovative companies.
